About Emily

Emily Huresky was most likely one of the only students at The Rumson Country Day School whose mother often picked her up from school accompanied by a swami.  Introduced to eastern philosophy and meditation at an early age, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Barnard College in 1996 with a degree in Religion. As a graduation present her aunt, a yoga teacher herself, sent Emily to yoga teacher training at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, PA.

For the next several years Emily trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa and "power yoga." In 1999 Emily met John Friend and was instantly hooked by the physicality, precise alignment, therapeutics, and inspiring philosophy of Anusara yoga. In 2000 Emily co-founded Dancing Foot Yoga in Red Bank, NJ with certified Iyengar instructor and close friend, Robin Candrea.  She was certified in Anusara Yoga in 2003 and served on the Anusara Yoga Certification Committee for ten years,  Emily continued to study closely with and regularly assist John Friend in his workshops across the country until 2005 when she decided to marry the love of her life, start a family, and dedicate her efforts to teaching yoga locally

Emily skillfully incorporates her knowledge and love of both alignment and flow into her classes. She lives in Shrewsbury, NJ where she and her husband Walt are raising three amazing, spirited sons in a home they share with her Buddhist mother. Emily believes whole-heartedly in the power of yoga to transform people and change their lives in radically positive ways and is delighted to be able to share this practice with others.

Happiness consists in realizing it is all a great strange dream
